Depending on the activity that will take place on the MUGA, you will require different types of surface. This choice of surface is an important consideration. Whether recreating the feeling of natural grass or using a shorter pile, certain sports may be incompatible with each other. For example, field hockey and football may require a different surface to tennis or basketball.
Our design team will be able to assist you in this choice, ensuring you receive a surface that enables you to get the most use from it.
Benefits of a MUGA pitch
Multi Use Games Areas are versatile areas, and as the name suggests, can be used for a multitude of sports and games.
Here are five benefits of MUGAs:
• Use in all weather - The biggest benefit of a MUGA is that it can be used in all weather. Unlike grass, it won’t get muddy in wet weather, or dry out in the sun. When maintained effectively, it will provide a consistent surface, whatever the season.
• Low maintenance - Again, unlike a sports field, there’s no need for regular maintenance, such as grass cutting or line painting.
• Maximises space - Because multiple sports can be played on the same space, MUGAs negate the need for multiple pitches.
• Cost-effective - Having one dedicated sports area can also save money with several sports able to be played on the same space.
• Additional income - Because a MUGA can be used for a number of sports it will always be popular should you choose to rent it to the general public outside of school hours.
